IMPERMANENCE > PERMANENCE

Change

Humans love attachment to the past, material objects, roles, relationships, titles, habits, stages of life and so on.

In my work with clients I often see that a surge in change leads them to feel that they are no longer in control - this puts them over the edge.

They start to eat foods they don't want to eat, think negatively, speak negatively (most often to themselves), anxiety roars, stress mounts. "If only x (insert: job, relationship, home, etc) didn't change none of this would be happening to me". How do we roll with change so that we don't become victim to it?

A softening, a surrendering to change requires acceptance of impermanence, the ability to to not be defined by your attachments and most importantly a collection of tools to ground you as you move through the flow of life. Focusing on the latter first, can help you find a path to the former.

Some of my favorite tools are yoga, meditation, breath work, books, cooking, nature, friends.

Cultivating tools for yourself makes a world of difference.
Ideally, these are things you do on a regular basis so that when life flares up or surprises you in its suddenness, you're able to better deal with it in the moment. Tools give you strength. They help you tap into your internal reservoir of courage.

What helps you navigate through the wavering nature of life?

Take time to gather your personal tools, explore what could work for you and then ferociously agree to make space for these things in your days.

P.S. // Above I mentioned what works for me, but those may not be for you. Here are additional ideas to help you brainstorm your tool kit:
*  epsom salt bath
*  journaling
*  music
*  dance
*  a hobby, any hobby! (jewelry making, guitar, drawing/coloring books, knitting, etc)
*  EFT Tapping
*  Energy Medicine

SLICE 01

Eucalyptus

Been nerding out to all things gut health with this book aka the digestion bible.

This and this are definitely on my to watch list.

My friend and co-worker at Parsley Health, Elisa, shared this mind blowing podcast with me on goals, motivation and neuroscience. Will surely listen to it as least 2 more times.

Made this for dinner last night. So good. I suggest adding the whole curry jar for curry lovers out there. .

This tahini dressing recipe made my lunch delicious all week - I poured it over Explore Asian mung bean pasta  (which I buy on Thrive Market) + veggie stir fry (cauliflower, shiitake  mushrooms, onion, carrot, celery, olive oil).

PopSugar Fitness Videos are helping me keep up with my workout goals. One of my recent faves - keeping it fun with a dance party.

Using this to make warming, anti-inflammatory golden milk lattes.

Was gifted this, it makes bath time better.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Just back from a corporate wellness talk I did where I whipped up this delicious, seasonal smoothie. I posted it on Instagram and had some requests for the recipe, so I wanted to share it here. I love pumpkin everything! And while I'll certainly have some pumpkin pie this season, here's a healthified way to enjoy it:

Serves 1
Ingredients:
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/4 cup organic canned pureed pumpkin
1/2 banana
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tbsp ground flax seeds (optional for extra Omega-3s)
1 serving protein powder {optional, I like Parsley Health's Vanilla protein powder}
4 ice cubes

Directions:
Add all ingredients to blender, blend & enjoy!

What is Sole + 3 Reasons To Drink It Daily

Sole {pronounced sol-ay} is water that has been saturated for at least 24 hours in high quality salt. What it creates is a highly mineralized, electrolyte dense water concentration that you can then drink a teaspoon of daily to detoxify and revitalize the body. I'm just making my first batch today and am excited to start having this elixir daily!

3 health promoting reasons I'm incorporating Sole into my morning routine:

  1.  High mineral content :: Unfortunately, due to soil depletion most of us are deficient in important minerals and supplementing is a fantastic way to make sure you're getting enough. The body uses minerals to perform many different functions - some examples are; build strong bones and teeth, nerve function, helps the body to create certain hormones and supports healthy metabolism function. Sole can supply the body with 84 essential minerals.

  2. Skin health :: Minerals such as zinc, iodine and sulphur help to keep our skin healthy and resilient. Getting a nice dose of this everyday can help you to combat acne and other skin imbalances or simply help you maintain healthy skin.

  3.  Improves sleep quality :: Many people have a tough time sleeping and one common reason is mineral deficiency. When I work with clients I often recommend supplementing with magnesium for a better sleep. Sole water provides magnesium as well as other other important trace minerals to help your body calm and relax for a restful nights sleep.

How to make Sole:
1. Purchase high quality sea salt such as Celtic or Himalayan. I bough this chunky Himalayan Sea Salt kit, which is great because it comes with directions and a container to make it in!
2. Fill a glass container with 1/4 sea salt and the rest filtered water. Give it a shake. {Do not use metal as part of your container as it will de-ionize the salt}
3. Leave for 24 hours.
4. The Sole will last indefinitely at room temperature due to it's natural anti-bacterial properties.

To Use:
Add 1 tsp of Sole to a glass of water each morning before eating or drinking anything.
