SLICE 05

Up next on my reading list.

Been watching episodes of The School of Life after listening to an amazing interview with it's founder on the podcast On Being.

A client tipped me off to these ghee products - bought this one and this one. I already have their plain one, but woah these others are next level. This one is definitely on my list to try too.

Scored this book at the local used book shop the other week - can't wait to dig in.

Still on the alcohol free train - this weeks mocktails were made with concentrated pomegranate extract (#antioxidants), sparkling mineral water & maple bitters .

Grain free tortilla chips! Discovered at Whole Foods. So good.

Made this nightshade free chili the other night.

For some quick lunches this week I chopped up romaine lettuce, drizzled with olive oil + lemon + olive tapenade  & in a separate container mixed up wild yellowtail  + 1 tbsp of mayo + chopped carrots and celery + salt & pepper. Once at work, mix it up!

Been keeping this bone broth on hand - you can find it at Whole Foods in the freezer section.

Been sipping on Sole Water again in the morning - here's why

Book I'm crushing on this week - Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories That Heal

Because Alan Watts + tea + mountains ...

My favorite morning ritual: 1 tsp of vanilla ghee + ground cinnamon to 1 cup organic brewed coffee, blend.

Unsweetened Dang coconut chips have been a go to snack these days.

You're not just what you eat, but also what you absorb - if you're into self experiments/testing, check this one out! A simple test, with big implications. #digestivehealth

Loved this post on MTHFR  - we help you learn your status at Parsley Health

SLICE 03

Snowbound yesterday so had to whip up dinner with some staples we had on hand - this proved to be a delicious solution. Didn't add chicken, added shiitake mushrooms + broccoli.

Currently reading this - scary BUT knowledge IS power.

Been practicing the Breath of Joy this week.

Natural deodorant, sigh. In my experience trying so many it either doesn't work or super irritates my armpits. But, I'm pretty committed to not using the toxic stuff, so I keep trying. Just learned about PiperWai - definitely going to give it a try. Stay tuned.

Making nomato sauce (Topher is avoiding nightshades for a bit) from this cookbook and paleo meatballs tonight, likely over Cappello's fettuccine

Going alcohol free this weekend, but excited about the mocktails I'm going to whip up with sparkling mineral water, bitters, tart cherry juice and a squeeze of lime.

In other beverage news, been enjoying a digestive tonic of aloe juice, filtered water + lemon or lime juice these days.

Discovered this brand at Whole Foods this morning, came home, made a breakfast burrito. Passed the test, new fave.

radio

It may be old school but non-commercial radio is my jam - WKCR & WFUV for the win. The big broadcast on Sunday nights {music from the 20's and 30's} on WFUV is an all time fave.

Devouring this book all week. One woman's memoir of chronic illness and the mind-body strategies she turned to when nothing else was working. It explores the concept of Psychoneuroimmunology {the study of the potent interaction between our psychological state of mind + our cellular and immune function} - mind blowing.

It's a challenge to find good news these days, but if you look closely, you'll find it. Heart melt.

This year I'm focusing on some specific savings goals and enlisted the help of Learnvest. I even upgraded to a 1:1 call with one of their financial advisors. So far so good and really helpful. Financial health is v. important!

Fellow book lovers, you'll like this. We know there are many advantages to reading, but a new study surprised me with the most recent edge us book worms have.

Socratic questioning to conquer negative thinking

I don't like football. But, we have a family tradition of getting together on the Superbowl because my Dad makes his famous chili {thankfully he upgraded to grass-fed meat a few years ago so that I'd eat it. :-) } Deciding what I'm going to bring and drawing inspo from this list

For lunches this week I stuck with the tahini theme but I had some cilantro around so used this dressing recipe and drizzled it over sprouted grains, sautéed veggies and sprouted pumpkin seeds
